Alzheimer’s and Dementia: What Every Caregiver Wants to Know

The Alzheimer's Association's support group in Easley has invited Barbara Barham, RN, MS, CTS, to speak on the topic, "Alzheimer's and Dementia: What Every Caregiver Wants to Know", at an open meeting for the community on Thursday night, September 3rd, 7:00 - 8:30 PM, at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley. Topics to be discussed will include:

* What is dementia? What is Alzheimer's?
* What are the stages of dementia? What can we expect?
* When should we see a gerontologist? neurologist? geriatric psychiatrist?
* What about medications?
* What about difficult behaviors?
* How can I get my loved one with dementia to accept "outside help" in the home?

Interested persons are invited to join us!

A no-cost, in-home sitter can be provided for family members to attend this September 3rd meeting as well as other support group meetings. This support group for family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia normally meets in Easley's Hampton Memorial Library -- 2nd floor Conference Room --on the 1st Thursday each month at 7PM.
