Basics of Dementia

The Alzheimer's Association's support group in Greer has invited Neurologist, John F. Pilch,MD, to speak on the topic "Basics of Dementia" at an open meeting for the community on Thursday night, September 10th, 7:00 - 8:30 PM, in the Community Room of The Cottages at Brushy Creek (next to Greer Memorial Hospital on S. Buncombe Road) in Greer. Topics to be discussed will include:

* What is dementia? What is Alzheimer's?
* What are the stages of dementia? What can we expect?
* What medications are often used?
* What about difficult behaviors?
* What are things we can do to promote brain health?
* What is happening in Alzheimer's research?

Interested persons are invited to join us! Refreshments will be provided by Home Helpers and Direct Link of Greer.

A no-cost, in-home sitter can be provided for family members to attend this September 10th meeting as well as other support group meetings. This support group for family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia normally meets in Greer Memorial Hospital's 2nd floor Classroom on the 2nd Thursday each month at 7PM.
