Domestic Violence: Clinical Interventions and Community Resources

Purpose: To improve the ability to recognize and respond to domestic violence situations.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
? Discuss the definition and dynamics of domestic violence.
? Identify skills needed to respond to victims and abusers.
? Recognize roadblocks and concerns to helping victims.
? Identify local and regional resources for assisting victims and abusers.
Social Workers, Nurses, Licensed Professional Counselors and Interested Others
$50 for non members; No fee for AHEC members

0.3 CEUs, 3 clock hours-AHEC
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 3 contact hours.
Social Workers: This program has been approved for 3 clock hours of social work continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.
Counselors: This program has been approved for 3 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
Others: This program is approved for 0.3 CEUs ( 3 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
