This seminar, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Assocation - South Carolina Chapter, will include:

?Alzheimer?s Disease ? An Update on Current Treatment and Future Developments? Presenter: Warachal Faison, MD, Clinical Director, Alzheimer?s Research and Clinical Programs at the Medical University of South Carolina.

?Communication Skills -- Keeping the Dialogue Going with Persons with Memory Loss? Presenter: Jan Merling, MA, Education Coordinator, Office for the Study of Aging at the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina.

Target Audience: Family members who have a loved one with dementia, professionals, social workers, clergy and interested others, particularly in the multi-cultural communities.

Participants will expand their understanding of:
? The importance of Alzheimer?s research.
? Current treatment for Alzheimer?s disease.
? Advances in Alzheimer?s research including new investigational treatments and vaccine studies being developed.
? Communication problems (and causes) of persons with dementia.
? Effective techniques for improving communication with persons with dementia, and
? Interpreting non-verbal communication from persons with dementia.

There is NO COST to attend this seminar.
