How African Americans are Affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia

Studies have shown that African Americans are at higher risk for developing Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Aljoeson Walker is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Memory Disorders Clinic in the Department of Neurology at MUSC.

At the conclusion of the presentation, particiapants will be able to: discuss the basics about Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia; describe reasons for higher incidence of dementia in African Americans; and explain the rationale behind research projects within the state that focus on participation by African Americans.
