Target Audience

Physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, mental health professionals, psychologists, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, dietitians, social workers, counselors and therapists, massage therapists and other interested health professionals.

Purpose of Conference

Participants will have a better understanding of integrative oncology and be better prepared to inform patients about integrative oncology options and resources available to them.

Objectives

? Define integrative oncology.
? Discuss clinical applications of integrative oncology.
? Discuss nutrition, herbs and supplements as they relate to cancer.
? Discuss practical application of guided imagery and meditation with oncology patients.
? Identify the role of oncology rehabilitation in cancer treatment.
? Describe the clinical application of using acupuncture and tai chi with oncology patients.
? Discuss the South Carolina Cancer Alliance (SCCA).

Fee: No fee for Upstate AHEC Consortium Members
NOTE: $20.00 fee for AHEC members needing pharmacy credit
$85.00 for Non-Members

Credit

Continuing Nursing Education: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by The South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission of Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 6.5 contact hours.

Counselors and Therapists: This program has been approved for 6.5 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.

Dieticians: 6.5 hours of CPE for registered dietitians.

Massage Therapists: This program has been approved for 6.5 hours of continuing education credits by the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for Massage Therapy.

Occupational Therapists: This program has been approved for 7.8 contact hours of continuing education for Occupational Therapists. SC AHEC has presumptive approval as a provider of continuing education for Occupational Therapists by the SC Board of Examiners for Occupational Therapy.

Pharmacists: South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA) is accredited
by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education. ACPE UPN UAN is 0171-9999-10-061-L04-P. This program provides 6.5 contact hours (0.65 CEUs) of continuing education credit for pharmacists. CE statements of credit will be distributed to program attendees by SCPhA within 4 weeks of this program. Grievances regarding the education program must be submitted in writing to the SCPhA ACPE Coordinator immediately following the program.

Physical Therapists: This program has been approved for 7.8 contact hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Examiners for Physical Therapy.

Social Workers: This program has been approved for 6.5 clock hours of (1 clock hour of social work and 5.5 clock hours of non-social work) continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.

Others: This program is approved for 0.65 CEUs (6.5 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
