OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
? List the normal value of the ABG including: PaO2, PaCO2, Bicarbonate, Hemoglobin, and SaO2.
? Define acidosis and alkalosis.
? Discuss current recommendations for use of cardiac biomarkers in the clinical course by outlining initial rise, peak, and time of elevation for each cardiac biomarker.
? List the normal values for coronary risk profile.
? Discuss the current recommendations for indications, assessment and treatment strategies for coronary risk profile testing.
? Discuss why the CBC is used as the most frequent screening laboratory procedure.
? Describe how a CBC can assist in discovering the etiology and classification of anemias.
? Discuss the indication, usefulness, and weaknesses of chemistry analysis.
? Review the indications for laboratory determinations of thyroid function in distinguishing patients with euthyroidism from those with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
