OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:

Recognize a patient who is deaf or blind at point of contact.
Demonstrate how to assess appropriate accommodations needed for meaningful patient dialogue.
Explain how section 504 and the ADA Law apply to individuals who are deaf or blind.
Identify how to access sign language interpreters to facilitate communication with deaf patients.

TARGET AUDIENCE All Healthcare Professionals and Language Service Managers

FEE $40 for non members; No Fee for AHEC members; There will be a $20 fee for those AHEC members needing pharmacy or pharmacy tech credit.

CREDIT 0.2 CEUs, 2 clock hours‐AHEC, non social work, counselors and therapists, respiratory therapists
This CE activity is approved for 2.4 contact hours for Physical and occupational therapists.
AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 2 contact hours

South Carolina Pharmacy Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program is accredited for 2.0 live hours of continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians by SCPhA.
