What is Dementia Friends? It is a global movement developed by the Alzheimer's Association in the UK and now well under way in the USA and here in Charlotte Mecklenburg. The goal is to have everyone in the community understand 5 key messages about dementia, how it affects people and how we can all make a difference in the lives of people living with the disease. People with dementia need to be understood and supported in their communities. You can help by becoming a Dementia Friend. The one hour awareness session is lead by local Dementia Champions, Amanda Buck and Angela Burrow.
