Spanish for Healthcare Providers

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
? Review with practice the basics of Spanish pronunciation.
? Develop the speaking, listening and writing skills used in Spanish pronunciation
? Increase conversational abilities using role‐playing scenarios, listening comprehension and speaking.
? Develop a base vocabulary of medical terms and phrases in Spanish.
? Recognize basic grammatical rules and how they are similar to or different from their counterparts in English.
? Read with comprehension basic Spanish medical literature by recognizing basic words and phrases.
? View through presentation how Hispanic culture influences their healthcare beliefs and practices.

TARGET AUDIENCE All Healthcare Professionals
FEE $80 for non members; No fee for AHEC members
There will be a $20 fee for those AHEC members needing pharmacy or pharmacy tech credit.

CREDIT 0.55 CEUs, 5.5 clock hours-AHEC, Respiratory Therapist, Non Social Work, Counselors and Therapists
Registered Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 5.5 contact hours.
This CE activity is approved for 6.6 contact hours for Physical and Occupational Therapists.
This program provides 5.0 contact hours (0.5 CEUs) of continuing education credit for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
