The New Definition of Women?s Cardiovascular Disease: Ischemic Heart Disease

Purpose: To gain knowledge about Ischemic Heart Disease as it relates to women.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
? Discuss the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease as it applies to the female population.
? Discuss the gender differences for presentation and pathophysiology of heart disease.
? List risk factors for heart disease specific to women.
? Review specific cardiovascular disease prevention recommendations for women.
? Describe indications of diagnostic testing for the female patient with possible heart disease.
? List standard Acute Coronary Syndrome Therapy.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Licensed Nurses, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Interested Others

FEE
$80 for non members; No fee for AHEC members

Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center?s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 6
contact hours.

Physical Therapists: This program has been approved for 7.2 contact hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Examiners for Physical Therapy.

Occupational Therapists: This program has been approved for 7.2 contact hours of continuing education for Occupational Therapists. SC AHEC has presumptive approval as a provider of continuing education for Occupational Therapists by the SC Board of Examiners for Occupational Therapy.

Others: This program is approved for 0.6 CEUs (6 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
