To help adults with memory loss and the people who care for them communicate more effectively with their physicians, The Haven and the Alzheimer's Association Upstate South Carolina Chapter is offering a free workshop. The workshop will provide information on how to develop and maintain an effective relationship with one's doctor. The program includes:
--What questions to ask the doctor
--What records are important to keep
--Techniques that will strengthen communication
--How a strong partnership can reduce the stress of managing Alzheimer's Disease
Workshop participants will learn strategies to make the best use of time with their doctors. Our goal is to improve and enhance how patients, care partners and physicians relate in the care setting. We'll demonstrate how to prepare for doctor visits, reduce stress, and communicate information accurately and effectively. These skills can help everyone in the process make informed decisions about care and services. Persons in early stages of Alzheimer's disease and their families are invited to attend.
