Our 9th Annual Heroes of Hope and Remembrance Dinner will be held next month, on May 16th! We are proud to announce that this year, we will be honoring two very special ladies, Sylvia Lollis McLeod and Sue Caswell, both an inspiration to all who know them.
In 2008, Sylvia Lollis was diagnosed with colon cancer and given only two months to live. Fortunately, her friends talked her into a second opinion with Dr. Rajeev Malik who Sylvia credits with saving her life! Sylvia immediately got involved with CAA and joined the Sexy Broads Support Group. Sylvia travels, dances, and lives her best life EVERY DAY! Everyone who knows her is blessed by her positivity and amazed by her boundless energy! Her ZEAL for life is infectious!
Sue Caswell learned about the Cancer Association in 2004 when her close friend, Phyllis Glenn was diagnosed with breast cancer. Within a month of Phyllis’ diagnosis, Sue received the same bad news – she had breast cancer. These two amigos supported each other and also became staunch supporters of the Cancer Association, volunteering at many events including the Girlfriends Tea and the Concert of Hope & Remembrance. Both were original and active members of the 1 in 8 Support Group until Phyllis’ passing in 2017. Sue is an encourager and friend to every cancer patient she meets and she is a vital part of CAA today.
Both of these heroines are fiercely dedicated to the Cancer Association, our patients, and their fellow survivors. Their resolve to see the Cancer Association successfully fulfill its mission and expand services to meet the growing needs of all who are touched by cancer is commendable and worthy of recognition! They are truly Women of Excellence and we are proud to honor them as our 2024 HEROES OF HOPE & REMEMBRANCE!
