Have you ever delivered meals through Meals on Wheels to a client experiencing loss of memory?
Have you ever suspected a decrease in a Meals on Wheels' client's health that resulted in cognitive impairment?
Are you related to or do you know someone that has experienced mental decline due to age and/or other health reasons?
Have you ever wondered what the difference really is between normal aging forgetfulness and dementia?
Reserve your spot for Dementia Basics Training presented by Prisma Health and Meals on Wheels of Greenville. Many homebound clients of Meals on Wheels of Greenville experience some form of dementia, and our goal is to inform and educate our volunteers and community to identify the signs and symptoms of dementia and how to respond to those affected.
The class will be taught by Lisa Naylor, nurse practitioner, who is part of Prisma Health's Division of Geriatrics and works at The Center for Success in Aging in dementia care.
Not a Meals on Wheels volunteer but still interested in learning more about dementia? Please join us! This training is open to anyone in the community interested in learning more about this permanent and progressive decline in mental ability.

- Normal aging vs. dementia
- Types of dementia and how to identify each
- Stages of dementia and their signs
- Delirium characteristics
- Common behaviors of those with dementia
- Coping strategies
- Safety concerns
- Who to contact if you suspect someone may have dementia or needs further help
