What is Dementia Live?
Dementia Live™ is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change.
HOW IT WORKS:
The first step: Is preparation, putting on gloves, glasses, and headphones. This typically takes about 5 minutes for a group of 4 because we also explain why we use each piece of equipment.
The second step: Is the actual experience, which takes approximately 5 minutes. Participants will go into the Experience Room and complete a set of tasks given to them.
The last part: The empowerment session, which takes about 10 minutes. Empowerment is a time to discuss what participants experienced and how they will use that information. A small room that is separate from the experience room is ideal.
