Hospice of the Upstate, Alzheimers Association, Anderson County Meals on Wheels and SENIOR Solutions present a Everything You Have Always Wanted to Know About Caregiving But Were Too Tired to Ask, a Caregiver Expo.

The Expo will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a health fair that includes free health screenings. Other organizations will be available to discuss products and services that can help make the role of caregiving a little easier. Lunch will begin at 11:30 and will feature Johnson Dorn, son of the late Congressman William Jennings Bryan Dorn. Mr. Dorn offers encouragement and hope to the caregiver. The event is free to the public, but reservations are requested for lunch.

On a daily basis area agencies deal with people who are either part-time or full-time caregivers of a loved one. In many cases, the caregivers become tired, frustrated, and often sick themselves because of the lack of time for self-care. The Caregiver Expo was created with the goal to provide at least one day when caregivers could go to a single location to have preventive health screenings as well as enjoy being pampered. Area businesses will be there to provide chair massages, paraffin treatments, relaxation techniques, and helpful information to help caregivers learn ways to better cope with the stress and fatigue that comes with caregiving.
