Lewy body dementia or LBD is a progressive brain disease and the second leading cause of degenerative dementia in the elderly.
*LBD accounts for up to 20% of all dementia cases, or 800,000 patients in the US.
*Over 50% of Parkinson's disease patients develop Parkinson's disease dementia or PDD, which accounts for at least an additional 750,000 patients.
The word dementia is very frightening to everyone. Simply stated, it means "a decline in mental functions that affects daily living." When you live with dementia, you and those around you will have to adapt to your changing abilities. This support group,in cooperation with the Lewy Body Dementia Association, will allow you to increase your knowledge of LBD, share your experiences, and build hope for the future.
The support group is for LBD Caregivers and family members who have a loved one with Lewy Body dementia. Meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month.
