The 19th annual conference: Activities.... King of the Jungle, will be held February 21-23, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel in Columbia, S.C. 11.5 NCCAP hours and 12 LTHCA hours have been pre-approved. Featured speaker is world renowned Joyce Simard, MSW, author and also recently featured in the May 2007 issue of Nursing Home Magazine for her Nemaste program for end stage dementia individuals. Other topics covered at the conference include humor, yoga for seniors, educational and gardening opportunies at the Riverbanks Zoo, Nemaste Care, Crafts on a Shoestring, Creative Exercises, The Memory Enhanced Program for those in ALF or independent living, Grief, A Legacy To Remember, Volunteers, the Club: continuous activities for people with dementia in a secured unit, and making visits count: teaching children how to enjoy visiting a memory impaired person. Hotel registration deadline is January 20, 2008 and early conference registration deadline is February 1, 2008.
