WHAT:

Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte

This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. Participants will complete a ½-mile or 2-mile walk. The funds raised support the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer’s Association.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Registration/Check-in: 9 a.m.

Opening Ceremony: 10 a.m.

Walk: 10:30 a.m.

Finish Line Celebration: 11 a.m.

PARKING: Paid parking options within a short walking distance of BB&T Ballpark can be found in nearby parking lots and decks. Ride share and light rail are also recommended.

STREET CLOSURES: South Mint Street from W Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to West 3rd Street will be closed from 6 a.m. - 1 p.m.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS/PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES:

This year's Walk is locally presented by Sharon Towers. The Emcees for the day’s festivities will be: Rob Tanner, Host of the Tanner in the Morning Show, and Ann Wyatt Little, anchor for FOX 46 Charlotte. The warm-up will be led by Nick Kosir, meteorologist for FOX 46 Charlotte. The finish line celebration emcee will be Francene Marie Morris, host of the “The Francene Marie Show” from Beasley Media Group, Inc.

Congresswoman Alma Adams will be a special guest at the event, which will include fun, all-ages entertainment and family-friendly music, including a bagpiper leading the Walk. Participants will end the Walk on-field walking across home plate. On Walk day, participants will honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with Promise Flowers during the poignant Promise Garden Ceremony – a moving display of hope to represent the personal reasons participants join together to fight Alzheimer’s. Participants can join a team or register to walk as an individual at alz.org/walk.
