Hospice Patient Support Volunteer

Carolina Caring
June 2, 2025
Charlotte, North Carolina

Provide emotional support and companionship to patients receiving end-of-life care. Responsibilities include visiting patients at home or in care facilities, engaging in conversation, reading, playing games, or simply being a calming presence. Volunteers help reduce loneliness and enhance quality of life, working closely with the hospice care team to ensure patient comfort and dignity.

No prior medical or hospice experience is necessary. Ideal candidates should possess empathy, reliability, good listening skills, and a compassionate presence. Volunteers must complete hospice-provided training, pass a background check, and health screening (TB test). Previous experience in caregiving, counseling or volunteer work is helpful but not required.
