Hospice of the Upstate is the non-profit leader of end of life care in the Carolinas and NE Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to oversee and manage all functions of the Rainey Hospice House, a division of Hospice of the Upstate. The Manager of Inpatient Services provides leadership in setting goals and expectations, communication, quality and in-service education. The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers is a must. Competency is required in the areas of interpersonal communications, verbal and written skills, and knowledge of Medicare and regulatory and credentialing criteria and standards.

Duties include:

Collaborates with Hospice Home Care Department to transfer patients into and out of the inpatient setting.

Assists Medical Director and staff in coordinating interdisciplinary teams and facilitating service specific Quality Improvement activities.

Responsible for nursing activities in full supervisory capacity including the development and implementation of all training and disciplinary actions.

Assures the provision of timely and appropriate admissions as well as 24-hour/day staff coverage.

Communicates with physicians regarding inpatient referrals, admissions and current patients as needed.

Works with the Chief Executive Officer to establish goals for the inpatient facility and monitors overall program productivity and quality assurance in relation to the goals of the individual programs.

Maintains policies and procedures in compliance with state, federal, Medicare, and credentialing standards and criteria.

Minimum Qualifications: Licensed as a registered professional nurse in South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field. Experience in managing inpatient services and experience in hospice.

Other Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Products
Experience in Electronic Documentation
Able to deal effectively with stress and to work under pressure.
Be flexible, organized and function professionally under stressful situations.
Able to work successfully with varied groups of people.
