Position Description

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: Serving as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational, music and activity services to geriatric, adult, or adolescent patients under the facilities’ care for emotional or substance abuse problems.
1. Attends mandatory training
2. Assesses patients' level of functioning and need for adjunctive therapy services.
3. Develops and implements activity therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
4. Maintains the clinical and administrative documentation associated with services rendered.
5. Participates in the on-going implementation of the department's or service's continuous quality improvement plan.
6. Participates in special assignments and projects in interest of organization
7. Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
8. Demonstrates conduct in keeping with CCBH’s ethical standards.
9. Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
10. Supports facility service excellence standards.

This position is PRN (Per Diem). Additional hours may be obtained if willing to also work as a Mental Health Technician (Must meet MHT job requirement).

Required Experience

Bachelors' degree in relevant field preferred (e.g. recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, or occupational therapy). Recreation Therapy Certification preferred. College level reading, writing, and math skills; assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills; knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; time management and organization skills; teaching or training skills helpful; understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM IV methodology; inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Willing to work flexible hours and willing to travel, including overnight, in work capacity; must exert self-control in volatile or hostile situations; able to respond well to deadlines.
