GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Volunteer Coordinator seeks to plan and implement programs that engage members and others for volunteer service in Senior Action and their community to address identified community needs. The Volunteer Coordinator leads the design and implementation of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a federally funded program from the Corporation of National and Community Service working closely with the State and Federal Association for program improvement and reporting. The coordinator is a member of the Membership Experience Team and develops programs, recruits volunteers, and monitors and evaluates program outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assess volunteer needs of the community, design and plan effective volunteer programs either through Senior Action or in partnership with other organizations in the community.
• Recruit, orient, place, and arrange for assignment of volunteers.
• Incorporate performance measurement principles and practices in program development, volunteer placement, and project assessment.
• Develop partnerships with other non-profit organizations where seniors, through RSVP, may serve. Train, monitor, and maintain Memorandums of Understanding with each of these locations to ensure program compliance.
• Maintain appropriate fiscal and program records and prepare reports.
• Preparing and submitting applications and requests for amendments in the electronic grants system.
• Coordinate submission of all paperwork and grant requests to the Corporation for National and Community Service as well as other potential funders.
• Represent the program and organization as appropriate at community events as necessary.
• Coordinate all RSVP Advisory Board meetings and activities.
• Collect feedback from volunteers on a consistent basis and implement viable ideas that come from the feedback.
• Work in cooperation with development staff, advisory council members, and volunteer station staff to obtain resources for the project
• Ensure volunteers are members of Senior Action.
• Performs other/additional job functions as requested and/or assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in business, sociology, or related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and experience with RSVP preferred.
