“Be A Santa To A Senior Program” Launched In Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties

November 8, 2013

Home Instead Senior Care officially has kicked off it’s "Be A Santa To A Senior" program in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties. "Be a Santa to a Senior", was started back in 2004 by Home Instead Senior Care to help brighten the season for some local older adults who might not receive a gift or even companionship this holiday season.

This year we have received over 300 names from around the area and the list continues to grow daily.

Paper ornaments with the first name of a senior and the person’s wish list are displayed on Christmas trees at the following locations in Spartanburg County:

CVS Pharmacy at 2397 Reidville Rd, Spartanburg (Next to the Bi-Lo Market)

CVS Pharmacy at 87 Garner Rd, Spartanburg (Off of Pine St.)

CVS Pharmacy at 109 W. Manning St. in Chesnee

Walgreens Pharmacy at 2410 Reidville Rd. Spartanburg

Walgreens Pharmacy at 1790 East Main St. Spartanburg (in the Hillcrest Area).

Often requests are for basic needs, items like winter coats or warm pajama’s even socks. Today we received a request for two boxes of Kleenex (that broke all of our hearts).

The program will run through mid-December and culminate in a large comunity wide wrapping party were we will be asking for additional volunteers to help us wrap all the gifts and get them out to the various agencies who will distribute them.

If you know of any Senior in need of a gift this Christmas you can call our office at (864) 699-9525. If you’re interested in hosting an ornament tree at your place of business or even to make a donation you can also contact our office at (864) 699-9525. Please help us make Christmas special for a senior in need.
