Bust Bees
Release Date
Charlotte, NC — (2/10/2021)
They are called the "Busy Bees" and, as the name suggests, they have been busy! This group of crafty individuals collectively knitted over 100 hats in 2019 and even more in 2020.
This skilled group of residents at Brightmore of South Charlotte most recently participated in the 2020 “Share the Love” event at The Pavilion Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Busy Bees created lap quilts for several patients of the facility, which is located on the same campus with Brightmore of South Charlotte.
The Busy Bees engage in several craft endeavors, but are mainly known for their knitted caps that have been generously given to multiple individuals and organizations. Most recently, the Busy Bees have been knitting approximately 25 caps per week to send to the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation to provide support for those receiving chemotherapy. Knitted caps have also been sent to elementary schools, Native American reservations in South Dakota, local hospitals, and missionaries in Alaska.
