FEEDING RICHLAND COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC-DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE
Release Date
As the cars line up at our Richland Library Edgewood location, it is apparent that there is a high demand for our Emergency Senior Nutrition Program for senior citizens in Richland County. This critical service provides a need for those that are the most vulnerable in the wake of this crisis. For some it is fear of going into the grocery store and risk exposure to the virus, while others it is helping alleviate financial burdens brought forth during this time. "COVID-19 is creating a humanitarian crisis among those 60+ in our communities," said Andrew Boozer, Executive Director. "I'm thankful for the amazing team of coworkers at Senior Resources Inc., who are going above and beyond during this emergency to make sure those in Richland County and the City of Columbia have meals at a safe distance to keep them healthy and independent."
Any senior citizen (60+) or a caregiver of a senior citizen in Richland County that did not already pick up their five free meals through our Emergency Senior Nutrition Program on Monday, are encouraged to drive-thru one of our four distribution locations this Wednesday or Friday morning. Meal distribution will begin Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. however, we will start to gather information from cars lining up to receive the service prior to 10:30 to help with the flow of traffic. For those individuals or caregivers coming to pick-up meals, please remember that this is a first-come-first serve basis, and once all of the meals that were prepared for that site have been distributed, the distribution site will close for the day. If you were unable to receive meals on Monday, please view the location distribution graphic for Wednesday at the bottom of this email.
Please continue to refer to our website: www.seniorresourcesinc.org for the most up-to-date information on distribution locations. Individuals without internet service can call the United Way helpline (2-1-1) for the latest on meal pick-up locations.
