September 12, 2018

More than 1,200 service coordinators and affordable housing professionals from nearly every state gathered in Austin, Texas for the 2018 National Service Coordinator Conference held August 19-22 at the JW Marriott Austin.

The conference kicked off with opening remarks from AASC President/CEO Janice Monks on Monday morning. During the General Session sponsored by the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, President Monks spoke about the expansion of service coordination and highlighted new initiatives and policy changes that are forthcoming. She also welcomed a record number of first-time attendees at this year’s event.

The final day of the conference began with the recognition of service coordinators who are doing outstanding work in their communities. The AASC Awards of Excellence, sponsored by the Volunteers of America, honored two recipients who exemplify the values of AASC.

AASC named Jayne Floyd the 2018 Service Coordinator of the Year. Dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors, Floyd has worked as the elderly and disabled service coordinator at Spartanburg Housing Authority in South Carolina for more than six years. “Ms. Floyd has shown [an] outstanding work ethic and she loves what she does,” one nominator said. “She goes above and beyond her call of duty to help the residents in their times of need.”
