Meals on Wheels-Anderson Celebrating 35th Anniversary

July 14, 2011

Meals on Wheels-Anderson is celebrating 35 years of service to homebound citizens of Anderson County. Organized in June 1976, Meals on Wheels-Anderson has grown from providing 30 meals a day to more than 650 at the current time. Our continuing mission is to deliver nutritious meals to individuals in need and to build community awareness and support to meet that need. Our loyal volunteer drivers help us provide a hot meals and a friendly hello each weekday to homebound, elderly and disabled folks unable to prepare adequate meals for themselves. To celebrate the 35 year milestone and to highlight the continuing need for volunteer route drivers, Meals on Wheels-Anderson has launched the "35 to Drive" campaign. We are seeking 35 new volunteer route drivers by September 30, 2011. City and county routes are available, and most take about two hours to complete. Current route drivers include individuals, companies, and churches. Join us and make a difference today!
