This 4 credit hour class trains professionals
to connect with the person beyond the disease.
Part I is on understanding the stages of dementia and characteristic of each stage. Professionals experience what the patient is experiencing and learn how to work with them in more effective ways.
Part II focuses on actual hands-on methods of approach and interactions as well as offers tools in dealing with difficult behaviors.
Staff development tools will be given in order for course participants to improve staff training back at their facilities.
