The Upstate SC Gerontological Society – An Invitation

In 1978 a group of individuals committed to the specialized concerns of older citizens in this state recruited other professionals and lay people statewide and organized the South Carolinal Gerontological Society.
The Society's expressed purpose is to promote the best interests of older adults in the state; to encourage programs to meet the needs of older people; to work collectively and collaboratively for the expanion of services, programs, education and advocacy; and to promote awareness of the rights, needs and continuing contribution of older people.
The Mission: To promote awareness of issues impacting the quality of life of older adults through education and advocacy.
The Vision: All older adults will have access to the resources necessary to experience the best quality of life with compassion and understanding.
Membership: Is open to any individual interested in the mission of the organization. Membership includes participation in chapter meetings including CEUs when available; SCGS newsletter, other statewide educational programs and volunteer opportunities..
Chapters meet every other month at several locations. Educational programs are designed for professionals and those interested in aging issues.
