Upcoming Education: Deconstructing Dementia

This informative 2 part series is a must for professionals and families who are caring for people with dementia. This course discusses the types and stages of dementia. It offers tools to help the caregiver deal with difficult behaviors, understand complications of dementia, as well as offering specialized approaches for people with dementia. The main goal of this course is to facilitate connection between the caregiver and the person with dementia beyond the disease. The course instructor is Stephanie Oder, RN, BSN, LNHA. As a health care provider for more than 15 years, Stephanie has developed a passion for advocating for our nation's elders. Stephanie brings her extensive experience educating caregivers, families and facilities to bring better understanding and compassion for the person with dementia. Choose from one of two sessions. Session I will be held on May 3 and May 17 from 11:30-1:30 ; Session II will be held on June 12 and June 19 4:30-6:30. Lunch or Dinner will be served. Upon completion of the series nurses and social workers are eligible to receive 4 CEU credits. The classes will be held at the Mary Black Conference Room on the Mary Black Hospital Campus.
